The Displaced Type
By 2050, over a billion people will be displaced by climate change, yet their stories remain unheard. The Displaced Type is a speculative typeface that makes this crisis visible. Designed with 15% of each letter fragmented or shifted, mirroring the 15% of the global population facing displacement, it visually embodies the feeling of being out of place. The typeface rewrites familiar phrases about home, identity, and belonging, creating friction where there was once fluency. In doing so, it asks: can typography unsettle our comfort just enough to spark awareness?
